“If Romney’s the nominee…” – Notes from a Political Cartoonist in 1967

Mentioned in John Fischetti’s notebook from 1967 is the quote, “If Romney’s the nominee.” Obviously, not talking about current Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, but of his father George Romney who was the Governor of Michigan at the time. The circular nature of history – and politics especially – comes to life in this sketch in one of Fischetti’s many notebooks.

The John Fischetti Manuscript Collection includes approximately 3,300 digitized works by John Fischetti (1916-1980), a Pulitzer Prize winning political cartoonist who drew for the Chicago Sun, Chicago Daily News, Chicago Sun-Times, The New York Times, The New York Herald Tribune, and Stars and Stripes.
